Mironova offers six hair enhancement actives that target distinct follicular pathways: K₊ATP channel openers, collagen maturation modulators, ECM remodeling peptides, keratin gene support peptides, and antioxidant ingredients. Our water-soluble formulations eliminate the need for irritating co-solvents, and every active is supported by published literature or supplier efficacy data.

Challenges & Solutions

Your Challenge. Our Answer.

We understand the specific problems you face — and we built solutions for each one.

The Problem

Reliance on a single active (minoxidil) limits formulation differentiation and creates IP constraints for premium positioning

Mironova’s Answer

Mironova offers a multi-target portfolio: Kopyrrol Aqua (PDPO), Kopexil Aqua (DPO), plus cosmetic peptides — each addressing different follicular pathways

6 distinct actives

The Problem

Many hair enhancement actives are poorly water-soluble, requiring organic co-solvents that irritate sensitive scalps

Mironova’s Answer

Both Kopyrrol Aqua and Kopexil Aqua are freely water-soluble OTZ salt forms — clean aqueous formulation without propylene glycol or ethanol

100% water-soluble

The Problem

Regulatory pressure on prostaglandin analogues (EU SCCS opinion, Health Canada hotlist) creates market need for non-PG alternatives

Mironova’s Answer

Our non-prostaglandin actives provide options for regulated markets where PG analogues face restrictions or consumer concerns

The Problem

Ingredient suppliers offer single actives, forcing formulators to manage multiple vendor relationships for a multi-active approach

Mironova’s Answer

Single-source supply for multiple mechanistically distinct actives, simplifying procurement and enabling coordinated formulation support

The Problem

Evolving regulatory frameworks (like MoCRA and EU SCCS) require rigorous safety substantiation and limit the viability of single-mechanism formulations

Mironova’s Answer

Mironova provides a comprehensive, multi-pathway toolkit—from compliant cosmetic peptides and N-oxides to high-efficacy prostaglandin analogs optimized for scalp applications—ensuring long-term R&D continuity

Collagen Maturation Modulation (DPO)

Targets lysyl hydroxylase — the collagen cross-linking enzyme

Aminexil (DPO) retains strong inhibition of lysyl hydroxylase mRNA expression in vitro, targeting the collagen maturation pathway around hair follicles.

Mahé et al., Skin Pharmacology 1996

K₊ATP Channels in Hair Follicles

Two distinct K₊ATP channel types in follicles

Human hair follicles contain two forms of ATP-sensitive potassium channels, only one of which responds to minoxidil-class openers.

Shorter et al., FASEB Journal 2008

Perifollicular Fibrosis in AGA

Collagenous sheath thickening and inflammatory infiltrates are documented around miniaturizing follicles — a modifiable axis for hair enhancement formulations.

Jaworsky et al., 1992; Li et al., 2025

OTZ as Intracellular Cysteine Prodrug

OTZ is converted to cysteine by 5-oxoprolinase, supporting glutathione biosynthesis. Provides antioxidant support in the formulation’s delivery system.

Market Context

A Multi-Pathway Approach to Evolving Regulatory Landscapes

As regulatory scrutiny increases—such as MoCRA's safety substantiation requirements and EU SCCS focus on periocular exposure—the market demands adaptable formulation strategies. Brands can combine non-PG alternatives (N-oxides and cosmetic peptides) for multi-target mechanisms, or pivot high-efficacy prostaglandin analogs to scalp applications, taking advantage of a safer-by-design exposure geometry.

  • EU SCCS opinion (Feb 2026) flagged periocular exposure concerns for PG analogs in cosmetics
  • MoCRA safety substantiation deadlines are driving brands to diversify active ingredient sourcing
  • Premium scalp-care segment growing at 2× the rate of mass-market hair care

Application Notes

Formulation Guidelines

Typical use levels range from 0.2–1.5% w/w. These are freely water-soluble OTZ salts. They produce acidic solutions requiring careful pH management and buffering to maintain a final formulation pH of 4.0–6.5.
Typical use levels are 1–50 ppm. Myristoyl lipopeptides may require gentle warming (40°C) for complete dissolution. Ensure the final formulation pH remains between 4.5–7.0 for optimal peptide bond stability.
Scalp formulations require specific stability engineering including light, temperature, and pH controls. They are highly compatible with typical ethanol, propylene glycol, and water systems used in scalp tonics. Always employ regulatory-aware dosing.

Why Mironova

Your Advantage with Mironova

01

Multi-Target Portfolio

Six actives spanning K₊ATP channel opening, collagen maturation modulation, ECM remodeling, keratin gene support, and antioxidant pathways. Supported by published literature and supplier efficacy studies.

02

Water-Soluble Salt Forms

Kopyrrol Aqua and Kopexil Aqua are freely water-soluble OTZ salt forms — eliminating the need for propylene glycol, ethanol, or other irritating co-solvents.

03

Regulatory-Aware Positioning

Claims language is structured around cosmetic-safe phrasing. We do not make drug claims. Mechanism descriptions are qualified by evidence level (in vitro, ex vivo, supplier data).

04

US-Manufactured, Single Source

All six actives available through one US-based supplier. One vendor qualification, one supply relationship, coordinated formulation support.

05

Comprehensive Active Platform

From highly purified cosmetic peptides and water-soluble N-oxides to a deep catalog of 15+ prostaglandin analogs (≥98% purity), we offer formulation pathways for every regulatory environment.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Common technical questions about this product line, answered by our scientific team.

The parent peptide GHK has published transcriptomic profiling data showing modulation of >4,000 genes (Connectivity Map / bioinformatics analysis). Biotinoyl Tripeptide-1 showed +58% follicle growth vs control in supplier ex vivo models at 2 ppm. Evidence for finished-product consumer outcomes requires your own substantiation studies — we supply the mechanism data and formulation guidance.
These are cosmetic raw materials, not drugs. MoCRA requires safety substantiation (effective Dec 29, 2023), facility registration, and labeling compliance. We provide the mechanism and safety data for your ingredient dossier. Consumer-facing claims must stay within cosmetic boundaries — no “regrows hair” or “treats hair loss” language.
Yes, where regulations permit. The multi-target approach is designed to work as a standalone non-PG portfolio or as a complement to PG-based formulations. Contact us for guidance on your target market’s regulatory requirements.
OTZ (L-2-oxothiazolidine-4-carboxylic acid) is converted intracellularly to cysteine by 5-oxoprolinase, supporting glutathione biosynthesis. It serves as both the counterion for water solubility and an antioxidant component of the delivery system (Williamson & Meister, PNAS 1981).
Both target K₊ATP channels in hair follicles, a mechanism class shared with minoxidil. However, they are structurally distinct diaminopyrimidine N-oxides with different pharmacological profiles. Shorter et al. (FASEB J 2008) demonstrated that human follicles contain two forms of ATP-sensitive potassium channels, only one of which responds to minoxidil-class openers.
