Our Story
The Mironova Labs story begins in 1981, when Miroslav Trampota arrived in the United States seeking political asylum from Czechoslovakia. After working his way across the country, he arrived in New York City and joined the American Chemical Society, where he placed an advertisement seeking a position as a chemist.
That advertisement led to a response from Dr. Randall Murphy at NYU, who hired Miroslav as an assistant professor in the Chemistry Department. It was there, while conducting research and developing his expertise in complex organic synthesis, that the vision for a specialized ingredient technology company began to take shape.
In 1988, Miroslav established Pharma Tech International in Orange, New Jersey, with capabilities focused on small molecule synthesis and process development—with a principal focus on prostaglandins and novel-PG analogs. He soon brought aboard veteran chemist Bohumil (Mila) Zak from the Czech Republic, and together they built a reputation for delivering ultra-high purity bioactive ingredients to leading companies worldwide.
In 1992, the company moved to a new state-of-the-art facility in Fairfield, New Jersey, where we remain headquartered today. With expertise rooted firmly in organic synthesis, process development, and commercial production, our capabilities expanded over the decades as we incorporated new technologies and development approaches spanning an array of life science and engineering disciplines.
In 2009, following a life-changing event, leadership transitioned to the next generation. In 2016, the company changed its name to Mironova Labs—in honor of founder Miroslav Trampota and a continued commitment to delivering next-generation ingredient innovation. Under this new leadership, we have invested significantly in ergothioneine research and prostaglandin-based process improvements, establishing ourselves as a leading company in the research and manufacturing of ergothioneine with best-in-class manufacturing capabilities.
Today, as a US-based manufacturer dedicated to manufacturing excellence, we embrace environmental sustainability, continuous improvement, and uncompromising quality. What began as one chemist's determination to bridge academic research and commercial production has evolved into a recognized leader in ingredient technology, serving cosmetic, pharmaceutical, and nutritional health markets across the globe.
